Superbowl Birthday

We had a grand afternoon at our children's house yesterday, combining Super Bowl Sunday and my birthday celebration. I taught the daughter about my personal variation on Pimm's Cup , and they taught us about smoked ribs and, once again, about perfect chocolate cake. Our friend Maureen came over and it's always good to see her!
The Super Bowl was fine, I suppose, as for as football games go, but, like I said in a previous post, it was all about me and the Cake! The reason I post only one, ahem, flattering shot is because my cameraman was not very experienced at using his new camera (the fact that I've hoarded it and he's only taken it out on a test-drive once probably has something to do with that), and this is the only one that came out.

And today, Schnickelfritz's Signature Junior Sewing machine arrived! I know she's a little young yet, but how could I resist buying this for 12 bucks (including shipping) on eBay? Isn't it darling? It runs and even has a little presser foot!

I actually had a vehicle to use today (a rare occurrence, I know) and made the Thrift Store rounds. Monday, unfortunately, is not a good thrifting day because most of the stores are not open on Monday. I did pick up a dollar work of fiction, though. Sushi for Beginners by Marian Keyes. Looks like it may be entertaining. For $1 I can't go wrong, can I?
To end my day, I'm having a single-girls favorite: cheese, veggies, and dill dip, at the computer, for dinner (hey, at least I'm not standing at the sink!) The cats are in, the dogs have been fed, and all is quiet around here. Ahhhh, I might just sleep late in the morning. After that, I've got plans for my crafts room. Needle Book has inspired me. Wish I had the doll cabinet from storage to store my fabrics in. I'd never thought of it before now.

i like your new layout. that sewing machine is great! she's so smart, i bet she'll start using it by her third birthday. when i was staying over there a few weekends ago, alexis and dave were in the back, and i watched sophie gently caress the singer genie. she was just so careful and curious (and probably knew that she was doing something she wasn't supposed to!)

i'm glad you had a great birthday! i want to try pimm's cup!

Glad the dill dip was a big hit, as were the, yummmm, ribs!
Look at what I found for Soph's machine in the envelope that was sent with it!
And Val, next time you're here, maybe we can have a "Pimm's night". Marty and I use to do that now and then when I lived in Harper. In fact, hubby will tell you that the first phone-call he got from me was a post-Pimm's-night call. Whew-hoo, Remember them? Those were the wild days for me and Marty! :)
