Ahhhh..it's all about me!

Just wanted to point out a post from groovygreen.com regarding Tyson's Chicken, by saying that the thing that concerned me the most about this article is not the price of Tyson's chicken increasing. I never could (digestively, I mean) tolerate Tyson's chicken. The thing that concerned me is seeing a photo of the poor birds cramped in those cages. Ahhhg! Self-loathing comes into play when I see this, because of all the animals I've eaten in my lifetime ( I'd be pulling my hair out at this point , if my hair wasn't already thinning on it's own.) I think that, if I am ever not responsible for feeding meat-eaters, I will become mostly vegetarian. I say "mostly" because I'm basically pretty lazy and, if it came to hunger or a corn-dog, I'd choose the dog. I do have a fondness for Morning Star faux corn-dogs, though. Now, if Soy would be kinder to me (again, digestively), I'd eat like that a great deal more.

Today was a good day for me. Stayed in bed late. A and Soph woke me with a serenade of "Happy Birthday, Mamere", I played on the computer a while, heard from 2 of my sisters, hubby did the dishes for me then later took me out to a place we hadn't tried before, for an early dinner. Talked to A and Soph again tonight, and Hubby and I did our 2007 tax return.
Ok, well sometimes we shouldn't be taking such big risks as tax returns, on happy days, BUT, how much more would we hate bad news if we were having a schlocky day? And really, it could've turned out worse!
All in all it was a great day and my cake comes next Sunday. I know, I know, it's s'posed to be all about the Super Bowl, but since the ribs will take so long to grill, I figure we can all make time for birthday cake!
Ahhhh yes, it's all about me and the cake! Ah, ha, ha!

how very disturbing. those chickens must hate their lives. I wish we could still get free range organic chickens here in town. You would think in a rural area like this there would be somewhere you could buy a chicken raised by a farmer whose name you know. I always wish that about milk, too.
hope your tax return was prosperous. we are looking forward to sunday. yay cake!

Try talking to your local farmers market merchant who sells eggs. Ask if their chickens would be considered free range if they sell them. You might only be able to get a stewing hen, but it would make good dumplings or soup!

Hope your cake is great at your Super Bowl Birthday Party!
